StatTrak™ vs Souvenir vs Normal CS2 Skins
Updated 2026-06-20
The difference between Normal, StatTrak™ and Souvenir CS2 skins - how each is obtained, the StatTrak Swap Tool, and which is worth more.
Normal skins
Normal (standard) skins are the most common variant - unboxed from cases, earned from drops, or bought on the market. They have no kill counter and no tournament stickers, and they're the baseline that StatTrak™ and Souvenir versions are compared against.
StatTrak™ skins
StatTrak™ skins have a built-in counter that tracks the number of kills you get while the weapon is equipped. The count travels with the item permanently - it doesn't reset when you trade or sell it.
StatTrak™ is a separate variant rolled when unboxing, at roughly a 1-in-10 chance versus the normal version of the same skin. For popular skins it usually carries a price premium, though for some it's only a small one.
The StatTrak™ Swap Tool lets you transfer the kill counts between two StatTrak weapons of the exact same skin once, which collectors use to consolidate a high count onto a preferred float.
Souvenir skins
Souvenir skins drop only during official CS2 tournaments, through Souvenir Packages awarded to live viewers (Twitch drops) and attendees. They have gold name text and carry the stickers of the teams and players from that specific match's drop.
Souvenirs can never be StatTrak™. Their value swings widely: a Souvenir with stickers from a famous player in a legendary match, or with a low float, can be worth many times the normal skin, while a common one with unremarkable stickers is often cheaper than normal.
FAQ
Does the StatTrak counter reset when you sell the skin?
No - the kill count stays with the item permanently when it's traded or sold. The only way to change it is the one-time StatTrak Swap Tool between two of the exact same skin.
Can a skin be both StatTrak and Souvenir?
No - they're mutually exclusive variants. Souvenir skins never have StatTrak.
Are souvenir skins rarer than normal?
Yes - they only come from tournament Souvenir Package drops, so supply is limited. Price varies a lot by the skin, its float, and which team/player stickers it carries.
Is StatTrak worth more than normal?
Usually a bit more, because it's rarer (about 1-in-10 when unboxing) and some players want the counter - but the premium varies by skin, and for unpopular skins it can be small.
What is the StatTrak Swap Tool?
A consumable tool that swaps the kill counts between two StatTrak weapons of the exact same skin, once. Collectors use it to move a high count onto a cleaner-float copy.
